How do I rent equipment?

There are two ways to start a rental. If your need is time-sensitive, call your local office directly — our staff can confirm availability and reserve equipment right away. If you have more lead time, you can request a quote online and we will follow up to finalize the details.

What does the rental process look like?

For a new customer, we collect your contact information — name, business name, address, phone, and email — then confirm the right equipment for your job. From there we prepare the contract for signature and take payment to secure the reservation. Certain equipment may require two or more forms of identification. We reserve the right to decline any rental.

How far ahead do I need to reserve my rental?

We recommend three to five business days for most equipment. Availability varies by season and by category, so during our busier summer months — or for specialized equipment — reserving further ahead is the best way to ensure you get what you need on the date you need it.

What are your rental terms?

Rental periods are based on meter hours: 8 hours in a daily period, 40 hours in a weekly period, and 160 hours in a monthly period. A daily rental means you may keep the machine up to 24 hours and put up to 8 hours on the meter. A weekly rental covers 7 days and up to 40 meter hours. A monthly rental covers 28 days — four full weeks — and up to 160 meter hours. Usage beyond the hours included in your rental period is billed as additional time.

Is there a minimum rental period?

Most equipment rents by the day, week, or month. Select equipment is also available on a 4-hour rental period, which begins when you pick the equipment up and ends when you return it — loading, travel, and unloading included. For jobs that need more time on site, we encourage a full-day rental so the work can be done safely without rushing to be back and unloaded inside that 4-hour window. Haste makes waste, accidents happen fast, and quality suffers when a job gets rushed. At Slaymaker Rentals we stand for quality and integrity — let us help you do the job right the first time.

What do I need to reserve equipment?

We will need all of the information gathered in what does the rental process look like, which includes your contact and billing information, a signed rental contract, and payment to complete the reservation. Two or more forms of identification may be required depending on the equipment. We reserve the right to decline any rental.

How do I pay for my rental?

We accept cash, check, and credit card. Payments can be made in person, over the phone with our office, or online through your — which you can reach directly or through a link in your emailed invoice. Open accounts are available with approved credit.

When is payment due?

For cash customers, payment is required to complete a reservation, and can be made by cash, card, or bank wire / ACH. Customers with approved net terms are invoiced according to the terms on their account and are required to pay by cash, check, or bank wire / ACH within the term period to avoid finance charges.

Are there taxes or other fees?

Yes. When we email you a quote, applicable taxes and fees appear as line items so you can see the full cost before you commit. If your organization is tax exempt, we must have a properly completed exemption form on file before taxes can be removed.

Is delivery included in the rental price?

No. Delivery is available for an additional charge, quoted based on your location and the equipment being delivered.

Can I pick up the equipment myself?

Yes, for equipment you are able to transport safely and legally. You will need a vehicle and trailer rated for the weight and size of the machine, along with the proper hitch and straps or binders.

Will you pick the equipment up when I am finished?

If we delivered the equipment, we will schedule pickup once you let us know you are finished — the rental continues until you call it off rent, whether you call it in or submit it through your . If you picked the equipment up yourself, you are responsible for returning it to the same location. For rentals you picked up, the rental continues until the equipment is brought back; the time it is brought back is when it is called off rent. This is strictly enforced — picked-up items are only called off when returned, no exceptions.

How do I end my rental?

Every rental continues until you call the equipment off rent. You can do this by calling your local office or by submitting the request through your . The date you call it off determines when billing stops, so let us know as soon as you are finished.

Can I keep the equipment longer than I reserved it?

Yes. Simply notify the office by calling in and letting us know you would like to extend the rental. We will update your rental for the time you agree that you need and charge the balance at that time.

What happens if my job finishes early?

Providing Slaymaker Rentals delivered the unit, call it off rent as soon as you have parked it off to the side and are totally done with it. If you picked the unit up yourself, it must be returned to be called off rent. Charges are automatically calculated to the best rate for you at that time.

Do you offer operator familiarity for equipment?

Yes. Operator familiarity is an optional service that walks you through the safe operation of your equipment, typically conducted at our store. Ask a Slaymaker Rentals representative for details on the equipment you are renting.

Do I need to refuel the equipment?

Yes. Equipment goes out with a full tank and must be returned full. Machines equipped with diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) must also be returned full of DEF. Damage incurred by putting the incorrect fluid in the wrong tank will be billed accordingly.

Do I need to clean the machine before returning it?

Please return equipment in reasonably clean condition. Machines returned excessively dirty are subject to a cleanup charge.

What happens if a machine breaks down?

If the equipment is inoperable, call your local office right away — that is the fastest way to get a response and get you back to work. For scheduled maintenance items, such as an engine service coming due, you can submit a service request through your .

What happens if the equipment is damaged?

Damage happens and accidents occur. Should damage beyond normal wear occur, there will be additional charges. Once the machine has been returned, a Slaymaker Rentals representative will notify you within 48 hours of its return to alert you to the damage should you not already be aware of it. The damage is then assessed, an estimate is given, and you will receive an invoice for the repairs once they are completed. Major damage that affects the safe operation of the machine will remain on rent until it is repaired, and we will prioritize the repair as quickly as we are able. Slaymaker Rentals is not responsible for long part lead times or delays in getting parts — while we carry an extensive stock of many parts, we cannot assure the damaged part will be available at that given time.

What happens if I get a flat tire?

The customer bears full responsibility for flat, blown out, or low tires, and all costs for tire replacement are the customer’s responsibility. For assistance in getting the correct load-rated tire, contact the store you rented from to verify the correct tire. Incorrect or wrong load-rated tires will be replaced with the correct tire when the equipment is returned, and you will be billed for the replacement tire and labor accordingly.

What happens if there is bad weather?

Slaymaker Rentals cannot control the weather — it is up to you to plan your job accordingly. We do not offer credit or refunds for inclement weather.

What are your hours?

Both locations are open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed Saturday and Sunday. Holidays may incur additional time off before or after the holiday, so please call to verify we are open if you need a rental during those times. If you need a rental over a holiday, call in 2 to 5 days beforehand to make sure the machine is reserved for the time frame you need.
